Chebet, a mother of three and graduate of a community catering course in 2021, was last seen alive on Saturday evening when she entered her apartment with a suspect, identified as Samuel Njoroge.
Reports indicate that the couple had recently reconciled after months of separation, a reunion facilitated by Chebet’s brother around 9:00 pm on Saturday.
However, an hour later, Njoroge reportedly left the apartment at 10:30 pm.
Police later found Chebet’s lifeless body, with multiple stab wounds and signs of blunt force trauma.
Njoroge allegedly confessed to the crime in a cryptic post on Facebook, stating, "Die and leave me alone, you pr*statute."
The post has raised suspicions of a violent outburst linked to accusations that Chebet was involved with another man, though the exact motive remains unclear.
Following the discovery of her body, authorities launched a manhunt for Njoroge, who was traced to Githurai 45 on Monday but he remains on the run.
The police are working closely with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) as they pursue the suspect.
Chebet's family is calling for swift justice, urging authorities to act swiftly to bring Njoroge into custody.

Prosecution opposes bail and bond for the four suspects linked to the death of 47-year-old Lucy Wambui Kamau, who died following complications from a cosmetic surgery procedure at Omnicare Medical Limited, also known as 'Body by Design', arguing that they failed to appear in court twice despite being summoned, which demonstrates a likelihood of absconding if released.
The suspects, including the proprietor of Body by Design clinic Edna Wanjiru, surgeon Robert Maweu Mutula and George Wakaria Njoroge, are facing manslaughter charges in connection with the woman's death on October 6, 2024.

The Anti-Corruption Court in Nairobi has acquitted Peter Gitaa Koria, the suspended Chief Executive Officer of Bomas of Kenya, in a case involving alleged procurement irregularities amounting to Ksh 8.6 million.
The court ruled that the prosecution had failed to provide sufficient evidence to substantiate the charges, determining that the procurement process had not been conducted with any malice and that no wrongdoing had been proven.
The case revolved around tenders issued under Quotation No. 15 (Kitchen Items), Quotation No. 16 (Utensils), Quotation No. 17 (Kitchen Items), Quotation No. 18 (Plates & Cups), and Quotation No. 19 (Cutlery & Other Items).
These tenders were allegedly awarded despite not being included in the official Budget and Procurement Plan for Bomas of Kenya during the 2020-2021 financial year.
The prosecution had argued that Koria, in his capacity as CEO, had overseen an irregular process that resulted in the misallocation of funds.
