Chebet, a mother of three and graduate of a community catering course in 2021, was last seen alive on Saturday evening when she entered her apartment with a suspect, identified as Samuel Njoroge. Reports indicate that the couple had recently reconciled after months of separation, a reunion facilitated by Chebet’s brother around 9:00 pm on Saturday. However, an hour later, Njoroge reportedly left the apartment at 10:30 pm. Police later found Chebet’s lifeless body, with multiple stab wounds and signs of blunt force trauma. Njoroge allegedly confessed to the crime in a cryptic post on Facebook, stating, "Die and leave me alone, you pr*statute." The post has raised suspicions of a violent outburst linked to accusations that Chebet was involved with another man, though the exact motive remains unclear. Following the discovery of her body, authorities launched a manhunt for Njoroge, who was traced to Githurai 45 on Monday but he remains on the run. The police are working closely with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) as they pursue the suspect. Chebet's family is calling for swift justice, urging authorities to act swiftly to bring Njoroge into custody.
