Queen Elizabeth II once "tenorised" Crown Prince Abdullah by driving him herself around Balmoral in a Land Rover- acceleration, narrow roads, and the fact that Saudi women weren't allowed to drive terrified him.

🇩🇪 For Gundbert Scherf - the co-founder of Germany's Helsing, Europe's most valuable defence start-up - Russia's invasion of Ukraine changed everything.
Scherf had to fight hard to attract investment after starting his company - which produces military strike drones and battlefield AI - four years ago.
Now, that's the least of his problems. The Munich-based company more than doubled its valuation to $12 billion at a fundraising last month.
💬 "Europe this year, for the first time in decades, is spending more on defense technology acquisition, opens new tab than the U.S.,"said Scherf. The former partner at McKinsey & Company says Europe may be on the cusp of a transformation in defence innovation akin to the Manhattan Project - the scientific push that saw the U.S. rapidly develop nuclear weapons during World War Two.
💬"Europe is now coming to terms with defense."Reuters spoke to two dozens executives, investors and policymakers to examine how Germany - Europe's largest economy - aims to play a central role in the rearming the continent. Chancellor Friedrich Merz's government views AI and start-up technology as key to its defence plans and is slashing bureaucracy to connect startups directly to the upper echelons of its military, the sources told Reuters. Shaped by the trauma of Nazi militarism and a strong postwar pacifist ethos, Germany long maintained a relatively small and cautious defence sector, sheltered by U.S. security guarantees. Germany's business model, shaped by a deep aversion to risk, has also favoured incremental improvements over disruptive innovation. No more. With U.S. military support now more uncertain, Germany - one of the biggest backers of Ukraine - plans to nearly triple its regular defence budget to around 162 billion euros ($175 billion) per year by 2029. Much of that money will go into reinventing the nature of warfare, the sources said. Helsing is part of a wave of German defence start-ups developing cutting-edge technology, from tank-like AI robots and unmanned mini-submarines to battle-ready spy cockroaches.
💬"We want to help give Europe its spine back,"said Scherf. #Germany #Military #War 🇪🇺 Keep up with the latest Star Union News 🖥

Ghislaine Maxwell about to drop new evidence?
Ghislaine Maxwell’s brother reveals the disgraced socialite is gathering "new evidence" that she will present to federal authorities when she meets with them this week, according to the New York Post.
Jeffrey Epstein's madam never gave federal prosecutors her version of events before her trial in 2021, which ended in a 20-year prison sentence for recruiting women and underage girls for Epstein to sexually abuse. She also never testified in her own defense.
“She will be putting before [a] court material new evidence that was not available to the defense at her 2021 trial, which would have had a significant impact on its outcome,” Ian Maxwell told The Post in an email Wednesday, referring to her onoing appeal against her sentence.
Maxwell, 63, is a key figure in the Epstein case and one of the few people still alive who knows the names, times, dates, and locations of his connections, both business and personal. Epstein died in jail awaiting trial in 2019.
“If she squeals on some of the people that she has videos on, they won’t be happy,” former Epstein sex slave Virginia Giuffre alleged in an interview with Gayle King on CBS News in 2020. Giuffre, who committed suicide in April, became one of Ghislaine and Epstein's most prominent accusers after she had been recruited by the pair and worked for them until 2002. During that time, she claimed to have slept with high-ranking men, including Britain's Prince Andrew and a "president with a Spanish accent," according to court documents.
Maxwell, who is currently serving her sentence at FCI Tallahassee Prison in Florida, is also well aware of Epstein's holdings, according to court documents.
Cimberly Espinosa, who worked as Maxwell's secretary in the early 2000s, referred to Maxwell as Epstein's "estate manager", working on his various projects, including his private island in the Virgin Islands.
At one point, Maxwell oversaw the delivery of sand and palm trees to the island, said Espinosa, who was a defense witness at Maxwell's trial in 2021 and also said she had never seen her do anything illegal.
Giuffre told the interviewer that Maxwell organized parties and trips for famous financiers and politicians who flew on Epstein's private jet and attended his parties.
"She was a booking agent," says Spencer Kuvin, a Florida lawyer who represented some of the first victims of Epstein to come forward in 2007.
“Ghislaine would coordinate to get the girls for Jeffrey and his friends, and she would also make sure that his homes around the world were ready to receive him. She knows all the johns and she knows all of the victims, because she did all the dirty work.”
Maxwell herself has always been reluctant to speak publicly and has given few interviews. During her testimony in 2016 in a civil defamation case brought by Giuffre, lawyers criticized her for playing dumb — when asked about sex toys, she replied: “I need you to define a sex toy.”
She also denied that Prince Andrew had ever met Giuffre, despite the fact that they were pictured together in a widely circulated photo.
Teresa Helm, another Epstein victim, said she thought prosecutors would have a hard time getting the truth out of her.
"She was crafty, successful, and very articulate, and I think she’s just going to make a deal to get released," she said.
On Wednesday, a federal judge in Florida shot down the Trump administration’s bid to release a trove of grand jury transcripts from 2005 and 2007 connected to Epstein’s case in the state.

The US and China, the Clash of Conflicting Countries 🇺🇸🇨🇳
At a UN Security Council meeting, the conflict between the US and China over the Ukraine war has openly escalated.
The acting US ambassador to the UN, Dorothy Shea, called on China to stop supporting Russia's aggression.
China's Deputy UN Ambassador, Geng Shuang, strongly denied the allegations.
💬 “We call on the United States to stop blaming the Ukraine issue or creating confrontations,” he countered. China stressed that it is not a party to the conflict and has strictly controlled the export of dual-use materials.
The tensions were further exacerbated by a recent ultimatum issued by US President Donald Trump.
💬 On July 14, Trump gave Russian President Vladimir Putin a 50-day deadline to agree to a peace agreement. Trump recently said that he “loves Russia and would not want to impose sanctions if it was possible not to (...) our main problem is China, not Russia, Russia is our potential ally”.
💬 “There is no military solution to this conflict,” Shea said, echoing Trump's position. She warned that the US could take “further measures” if Russia does not stop its attacks in the Ukraine war.
According to reports, these measures could include 100 percent tariffs on Russian goods, as well as sanctions against countries that maintain trade relations with Russia.
A current bill in the US Senate even provides for secondary tariffs of $500% on countries importing Russian oil, gas, petroleum products or uranium.
Despite Beijing's denials, China remains one of Russia's most important economic partners in times of war.
It is Moscow's largest buyer of crude oil and a major supplier of dual-use goods for the Russian defense sector.
According to the Kyiv Post, reports indicate that Chinese drone engines are being secretly supplied to Russian manufacturers in order to circumvent Western sanctions.
